Radial Pixel Intensity

Radial pixel intensity is an image-analysis measurement that describes how pixel brightness changes with distance from a defined center, providing a quantitative view of spatial patterns in biological images. The analysis samples pixels along concentric rings or radial paths, groups their intensity values by radius, and generates a profile that can reveal gradients, boundaries, or localized signal enrichment. In microscopy and bioimage analysis, these profiles help characterize cell structures, organelles, colonies, and fluorescence distributions, support comparisons between experimental conditions, and quantify changes that may be difficult to assess by visual inspection alone.

Radial System Protection

Radial systems employ time-delay overcurrent relays to reduce load interruptions. When a fault occurs, the nearest breaker opens first, while upstream breakers remain closed due to longer delay settings. This approach ensures minimal disruption to the rest of the system. In a radial system with a fault downstream of the third breaker, ideally, only the third breaker will open, isolating the fault and interrupting the load connected beyond it. The second breaker has a longer delay setting,...

Lensfree optical tomography is a three-dimensional microscopy technique that offers a spatial resolution of <1 μm × <1 μm × <3 μm in x, y and z dimensions, respectively, over a large imaging-volume of 15-100 mm3, which can be particularly useful for integration with lab-on-a-chip platforms.

Evaluating Motor Impairment in C. elegans Models Using the Radial Locomotion Assay

2025

This video demonstrates the use of a radial locomotion assay to evaluate motor dysfunction in C. elegans expressing either wild-type or ALS-mutant human TDP-43 protein. Worms with varying levels of wild-type or mutant TDP-43 expression are allowed to crawl, and their movement is measured by the radial distance traveled from the central point on the assay plate. The assay distinguishes between mild, moderate, and severe motor impairments based on the distance traveled by the different C. elegans...

Assessment of radial pulse

Assessment of Radial Pulse The radial pulse, located at the wrist, is often the preferred site for assessing peripheral pulse because of its accessibility and dependability. The process of determining the radial pulse involves several steps: Hand Hygiene: • Begin by performing hand hygiene to prevent the transmission of microorganisms. Preparation: • Identification: Verify the patient's identity to ensure accurate and safe care. • Determination: Assess the need for pulse...
