Slot Die Printing

Slot die printing is a continuous, solution-based manufacturing technique that deposits a controlled layer of material onto a moving substrate, enabling uniform coatings over large areas. A liquid ink or bioink is metered through a narrow slot in a stationary die, while substrate speed, flow rate, viscosity, and die-to-substrate spacing regulate film thickness and coverage. In biology, the method can pattern or coat biomaterials, conductive materials, and other functional layers for tissue-engineering scaffolds, biosensors, and cell-culture platforms. Its scalable, low-waste operation supports reproducible fabrication of biological devices and engineered interfaces, while preserving precise control over material distribution.

Kubler Ross's Stages of Dying

2025

Elisabeth Kübler-Ross significantly advanced psychology's understanding of the process of dying with her influential book, On Death and Dying (1969). She focused on studying terminally ill individuals and outlined five stages commonly experienced when coping with death: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. In denial, individuals reject the reality of their condition, often thinking, "This isn't true; I feel fine," as a way to protect themselves from emotional distress. Anger...

Quantitative Analyses of all Influenza Type A Viral Hemagglutinins and Neuraminidases using Universal Antibodies in Simple Slot Blot Assays

A simple slot blot method was developed for the quantification of influenza viral hemagglutinin and neuraminidase using universal antibodies targeting their most conserved sequences identified through bioinformatics analyses. This innovative approach may provide a useful alternative to quantitative determination of all viral hemagglutinin and neuraminidase.
