Virus Vector Interactions

Virus-vector interactions describe the biological relationships between viruses and the organisms that acquire, maintain, and transmit them, such as mosquitoes, ticks, or other arthropods. These interactions depend on processes including virus entry into vector tissues, replication, movement through the body, and release during feeding, while vector immune defenses and physiological conditions influence whether transmission succeeds. Studying these mechanisms helps researchers measure vector competence and understand why some vectors support transmission more effectively than others. This knowledge informs disease surveillance, outbreak modeling, and strategies to reduce the spread of vector-borne viruses.

Exp., (2016)This video demonstrates adeno-associated virus-mediated gene delivery in a humanized rat liver scaffold. The vector delivers a transgene encoding a fluorescent reporter and gene-silencing RNA into liver cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis. This model supports efficient transduction in a perfused 3D liver tissue system.
