Pancreatic Head Malignancy

Pancreatic head malignancy is cancer arising in the portion of the pancreas adjacent to the duodenum and common bile duct, a clinically important condition because tumors can disrupt digestion and biliary flow. Malignant cells typically acquire genetic and regulatory changes that promote uncontrolled growth, tissue invasion, and, in some cases, obstruction of the bile or pancreatic ducts. In cancer research, this disease provides a model for investigating tumor biology, molecular drivers, early detection biomarkers, imaging, and therapeutic resistance. Findings support improved diagnostic strategies, surgical planning, and development of systemic treatments for patients with localized or advanced disease.

2026

This protocol presents robotic duodenum-preserving total pancreatic head resection (R-DPPHRt) for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs). A video demonstrates the technique in a patient with main duct-IPMN, highlighting its feasibility as a minimally invasive, organ-preserving alternative to pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Robotic pancreatoduodenctomy (RPD) has been highly standardized in recent years and may be used in selected patients with pancreatic head cancer, including those with a replaced right hepatic artery. This case report describes a standardized and reproducible technique for RPD, which includes the approach of the Dutch LAELAPS-3 training program to an aberrant vasculature.

Transgenic lck:eGFP zebrafish express GFP highly in T lymphocytes, and have been used to study T cell development and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This line can be used to study B cells, which express lck at lower levels. This protocol describes purification of malignant and non-malignant B cells from lck:eGFP zebrafish.
