Inclusive Environment

An inclusive environment is a physical, social, and organizational setting designed to ensure that people with different identities, abilities, languages, and backgrounds can participate safely and meaningfully; in clinical care, it supports equitable access and respectful patient experiences. It operates through accessible communication, culturally responsive interactions, respectful policies, and practices that identify and reduce barriers such as physical inaccessibility, stigma, or implicit bias. These conditions can improve patient engagement, strengthen communication between patients and care teams, and help researchers recruit and retain diverse participants, producing evidence that better represents the populations served.

Prokaryotic cells possess a variety of inclusions that play crucial roles in nutrient storage, metabolic processes, and environmental adaptation. These structures enable bacteria to thrive under fluctuating environmental conditions by storing essential resources and optimizing their metabolic efficiency.Carbon Storage: Poly-β-Hydroxybutyric Acid and Glycogen GranulesBacteria frequently store excess carbon in specialized granules. Poly-β-hydroxybutyric acid (PHB) granules are lipid polymers that...

Inclusive Fitness

Most altruistic behavior—in which one animal helps another at a cost to themselves—occurs between relatives. Scientists think these altruistic behaviors evolved because they increase the inclusive fitness of the animal providing help. Inclusive fitness is an individual’s ability to pass down their genes—both through their offspring and the offspring of close relatives with shared genes. If an animal helps a close relative improve their reproductive success, this increases the animal’s...

We present a procedure to determine the metal-silicate partitioning of siderophile elements, emphasizing techniques that suppress the formation of metal inclusions in experiments for the noble metals. The results of these experiments are used to demonstrate the effect of core-formation on the highly siderophile element composition of the mantle.
