Embryo Detection

Embryo detection is the process of locating and identifying embryos in biological samples or imaging data, a foundational step for studying early development. In developmental biology, researchers typically combine microscopy with visual or computational analysis to recognize features such as cell boundaries, cleavage patterns, embryo shape, and developmental stage while separating embryos from unfertilized eggs, debris, or background. Reliable detection supports embryo counting, staging, selection, and longitudinal tracking in studies of fertilization, cleavage, morphogenesis, and developmental perturbations. Automated detection can improve throughput and reproducibility, helping researchers quantify developmental outcomes and assess how genes, drugs, or environmental conditions influence embryonic development.

2013

Certain genetic perturbations or exposure to toxins can disrupt normal developmental processes leading to death of specific cell types. The analysis of activated Caspase 3 by whole-mount immunofluorescence in zebrafish embryos reveals stage- and tissue-specific localization of cells specifically undergoing apoptosis.

Immunofluorescence Assay to Detect PM2.5-Mediated DNA Damage in Fish Embryos
