Zebrafish Oocyte Isolation

Zebrafish oocyte isolation is a laboratory technique used to separate developing egg cells from ovarian tissue for studying reproductive and embryonic development. The process typically involves dissecting the ovary, gently dissociating its tissue, and collecting oocytes according to their size or developmental stage while preserving cellular structure and viability. Isolated oocytes enable researchers to examine meiosis, maturation, maternal RNA and protein deposition, fertilization, and early developmental events under controlled conditions. In developmental biology, this approach supports imaging, microinjection, gene-expression analysis, and studies of how cellular components established in the oocyte influence embryo formation.
