Immunoglobulin Secretion

Immunoglobulin secretion is the release of antibodies, also called immunoglobulins, by activated B cells and plasma cells, and it provides a central mechanism of adaptive humoral immunity. Following antigen recognition and B-cell receptor signaling, B cells proliferate and differentiate into plasma cells, which synthesize immunoglobulin chains in the endoplasmic reticulum, assemble them, process them through the Golgi apparatus, and export antibodies by exocytosis. Secreted antibodies bind microbial antigens to neutralize pathogens, promote opsonization, or activate complement, with antibody class and localization influencing the response. Studying immunoglobulin secretion helps explain infection control, vaccine-induced protection, immune deficiencies, and the therapeutic production of monoclonal antibodies.

A Paper-Based Immunoassay for the Detection of Immunoglobulin G

2025

The video demonstrates a paper-based immunoassay, involving amine-functionalized cellulose discs cross-linked with glutaraldehyde. Covalent immobilization of IgG-Fc-specific capture antibodies, followed by the introduction of immunoglobulin G and horseradish peroxidase-conjugated detection antibodies, results in a color change confirming the presence of immunoglobulin G.

A Microfluidic Cartridge-Based Detection System for Allergen-Specific Immunoglobulin E

2025

This video demonstrates a protocol for detecting serum-specific immunoglobulin E using a microfluidic cartridge-based chemiluminescence system. Serum IgEs interact with distinct allergens immobilized in the reaction zone of the cartridge, which are subsequently detected with peroxidase-conjugated anti-IgE antibodies and a chemiluminescent substrate, allowing simultaneous detection of multiple allergen-specific IgEs.

Measuring Immunoglobulin G Levels Against a Test Vaccine in a Mouse Serum

2025

This video demonstrates a method for assessing the antibody immune response to a novel nanoemulsion adjuvant vaccine in pre-immunized mice. Immunization enhances antibody response as confirmed by determining the IgG antibody titers.

An Assay to Detect Serum Anti-aquaporin-4 Immunoglobulin G

2025

The video demonstrates a cell-based assay for detecting anti-aquaporin-4 immunoglobulin G using a biochip containing untransfected cells and transfected cells expressing aquaporin-4. This method has applications in diagnosing neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, confirmed by strong green fluorescence on the biochip.

Immunoglobulin-like Cell Adhesion Molecules

2023

Immunoglobulin-like cell adhesion molecules or Ig-CAMs are a versatile group of cell surface glycoproteins belonging to the immunoglobulin protein superfamily. Ig-CAMs possess the characteristic immunoglobulin protein domains and other domains such as the fibronectin type III domain. The Ig domains are glycosylated to varying degrees in different Ig-CAMs. Ig-CAMs exhibit either homophilic binding (to other Ig-CAMs) or heterophilic binding (to other ligands such as integrins). While most Ig-CAMs...
