Dashed Line

A dashed line in mathematics is a visual line made of repeated short segments and gaps, used to represent a boundary, path, relationship, or geometric feature without implying a continuous solid edge. Its meaning depends on context: in coordinate graphs, it may show a function or an inequality boundary that is not included, while in geometry or diagrams, it can indicate an auxiliary construction or hidden edge. Interpreting the line requires examining surrounding notation, such as open versus closed endpoints or inequality symbols. Dashed lines therefore help distinguish included from excluded values and visible from implied structure in mathematical reasoning and communication.

Here, we present several simple methods for evaluating viability and death in 3D cancer cell spheroids, which mimic the physico-chemical gradients of in vivo tumors much better than the 2D culture. The spheroid model, therefore, allows evaluation of the cancer drug efficacy with improved translation to in vivo conditions.

Agroinfiltration and PVX agroinfection are routine functional assays for transient ectopic expression of genes in plants. These methods are efficient assays in effectoromics strategies (rapid resistance and avirulence gene discovery) and crucial to modern research in molecular plant pathology. They meet the demand for robust high-throughput functional analysis in plants.

In vitro culture is a direct detection method for the presence of living bacteria. This protocol describes methods for the culture of diverse Borrelia spirochetes, including those of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex, relapsing fever Borrelia species, and Borrelia miyamotoi. These species are fastidious and slow growing but can be cultured.
