Bone-setting Technique

Bone-setting is a hands-on medical technique used to realign displaced bones or joints, helping restore anatomy and function after injury. In a clinical setting, a practitioner applies controlled traction, pressure, or manipulation to reduce a fracture or dislocation, often after assessing alignment and neurovascular status and providing appropriate pain control. The technique may be followed by immobilization with a splint or cast and imaging to confirm the result. Correct reduction can support healing, preserve movement, and reduce complications, while emphasizing the need for trained assessment because improper manipulation can damage nerves, blood vessels, or surrounding tissue.
