Composite Resin Removal

Composite resin removal is a dental procedure that eliminates tooth-colored resin restorations, excess material, or residual adhesive while aiming to preserve surrounding enamel and dentin. Clinicians typically use rotary instruments with abrasive burs, controlled pressure, water cooling, and visual or tactile assessment to distinguish composite from natural tooth structure. The procedure supports replacement of defective restorations, correction of overcontoured surfaces, removal of orthodontic adhesive, and management of unwanted resin after restorative treatment. Careful technique can reduce unnecessary tissue loss and improve the accuracy, function, and esthetics of subsequent dental care.

A protocol to expose bare fibers on the composite surface by eliminating resin rich area is presented. The fibers are exposed during fabrication of the composites, not by the post surface treatment. The exposed carbon composites exhibit high electrical conductivity in the through-thickness direction and high mechanical property.

A Standardized In Vitro Procedure For Evaluating Surface Microhardness Changes In Nanohybrid Resin Composites After Whey Protein Beverage Exposure

Source: Schaeffer, J. W., Chandler, et al. Detection of Viruses from Bioaerosols Using Anion Exchange Resin. J. Vis. Exp. (2018).This video demonstrates the detection of viruses from bioaerosols using an anion exchange resin. A liquid impinger containing the resin is used to capture viruses from the air. The resin is collected and treated with a virus lysis buffer containing carrier RNA. The lysate is transferred to a microcentrifuge tube for viral RNA isolation, followed by qRT-PCR to amplify...

The synthesis of asymmetric species of ferrocene is challenging using solution techniques. This report focuses on the methods carried out to produce a ferrocene-biotin bioconjugate using facile and clean reactions accomplished via solid-phase synthesis. Incorporation of a thiolate moiety is shown to impart the ability for immobilization on gold surfaces.
