Intra-oral Photography

Intra-oral photography is a clinical imaging technique that records the teeth, gingiva, and other structures inside the mouth for assessment and documentation. Using a digital camera with intra-oral mirrors, retractors, and controlled lighting, clinicians capture standardized views while managing focus, angle, magnification, and moisture to produce clear, comparable images. These photographs support diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and monitoring of changes over time in dentistry and oral medicine. They also provide a visual record for communication among healthcare professionals, evaluation of treatment outcomes, and research, helping complement clinical examination and radiographic findings.
