Laparoscopic Precision

Laparoscopic precision is the controlled, highly accurate performance of minimally invasive surgery using a camera and specialized instruments introduced through small abdominal incisions. The surgeon operates from an enlarged video image, coordinating hand movements with long, narrow tools to dissect, grasp, cut, or suture tissue while limiting disruption to surrounding structures. This approach supports procedures such as tissue removal, biopsy, repair, and organ surgery, often with smaller wounds than open operations. In medicine, improving laparoscopic precision can enhance surgical control, standardize complex techniques, and contribute to reduced tissue trauma, shorter recovery, and safer patient care when appropriate for the procedure.

In early gastric cancer, the aim of surgery is to precisely remove the distal stomach including the primary tumor. To do this, accurate localization of the tumor is crucial, especially in totally laparoscopic surgery. This protocol describes a procedure for intraoperative gastroscopy in totally laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy.
