Multi-site Monitoring

Multi-site monitoring is the coordinated collection, review, and comparison of health or research data from multiple clinical locations, enabling consistent assessment across hospitals, clinics, laboratories, or study centers. It relies on standardized protocols, shared outcome definitions, trained personnel, and centralized or harmonized data systems to identify missing information, protocol deviations, safety signals, and differences in care or enrollment. In medicine, multi-site monitoring supports multicenter clinical trials, disease surveillance, quality improvement, and population health research. By improving data consistency and revealing site-level variation, it strengthens evidence, supports timely decisions, and helps determine whether findings are reliable across diverse patient populations and healthcare settings.

Here, we present a protocol to improve the quality of data from home sleep testing by providing a method to enhance instructions through a structured participant visit. This protocol includes the implementation of a step-by-step educational manual with photos to ensure proper placement of equipment.

Monitoring the Brain Cortex with a Multi-Electrode Array in Response to Seizure-Inducing Agents

2025

In this video, the effects of transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS) on brain slices containing the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and thalamus regions are investigated, using a multi-electrode array (MEA) to measure electric signals. By delivering electric pulses and infusing seizure-inducing drugs, the study investigates the ACC response to seizures.

In this video, we will demonstrate modification techniques for porous metallic implants to improve their functionality and to control cell migration. Techniques include development of pore gradients to control cell movement in 3D and production of basement membrane mimics to control cell movement in 2-D. Also, a HPLC-based method for monitoring implant integration in-vivo via analysis of blood proteins is described.

Using simultaneous video-EEG-ECG-oximetry-capnography, we developed a methodology to evaluate the susceptibility of rabbit models to develop provoked arrhythmias and seizures. This novel recording system establishes a platform to test the efficacy and safety of therapeutics and can capture the complex cascade of multi-system events that culminate in sudden death.

The Multi-group Experiment

2023

Source: Laboratories of Gary Lewandowski, Dave Strohmetz, and Natalie Ciarocco—Monmouth University A multi-group design is an experimental design that has 3 or more conditions/groups of the same independent variable. This video demonstrates a multi-group experiment that examines how different interethnic ideologies (multiculturalism and color-blind) influence feelings about diversity and actions toward and out-group member. In providing an overview of how a researcher conducts a multi-group...
