Plasma Quality

Plasma quality is the measure of a plasma sample’s safety, composition, stability, and suitability for clinical use. In medicine, it depends on careful donor selection, sterile collection, prompt separation from blood cells, validated testing, and controlled freezing and storage that preserve proteins such as coagulation factors, albumin, and immunoglobulins while limiting contamination or degradation. High-quality plasma supports transfusion therapy and the manufacture of plasma-derived medicines, including products used to replace clotting factors or treat immune deficiencies. Standardized quality assessment helps reduce patient risk, maintain therapeutic activity, and ensure consistent performance across blood banks and pharmaceutical production.
