Plasma Sample Processing

Plasma sample processing is the preparation of blood plasma for laboratory analysis, preserving measurable components that support diagnosis, monitoring, and biomedical research. Typically, blood is collected with an anticoagulant and centrifuged to separate liquid plasma from blood cells; careful control of handling, temperature, timing, and storage helps limit cellular metabolism, clot formation, and analyte degradation. Processed plasma can be aliquoted and analyzed for proteins, hormones, metabolites, nucleic acids, antibodies, or disease-associated biomarkers using biochemical, immunological, or molecular assays. Reliable processing improves sample quality and comparability, strengthening clinical testing, pharmacological studies, and investigations of disease mechanisms.
