Tumor Growth Tracking

Tumor growth tracking is the longitudinal measurement of tumor size, volume, or related biological changes to characterize disease progression and treatment response. It typically combines serial imaging, such as magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography, with physical measurements or molecular biomarkers, allowing changes to be quantified over defined intervals and represented as growth curves. Researchers use these data to compare growth rates, evaluate therapies, identify progression or regression, and estimate treatment effects in preclinical models and clinical care. Standardized tracking also supports reproducible experiments, improves interpretation of tumor biology, and helps guide decisions about monitoring and intervention.

2025

Source: Cabeen, M. T., et al. Single-cell Microfluidic Analysis of Bacillus subtilis. J. Vis. Exp. (2018)The video demonstrates the use of a microfluidic device to observe bacterial growth at the single-cell level. It showcases how non-motile bacterial cells, confined within micro-scale trenches, are continuously nourished and imaged under a fluorescence microscope. The setup enables real-time visualization of cell division and lineage tracking across multiple generations.

The Influence of Liver Resection on Intrahepatic Tumor Growth

A high incidence of tumor recurrence after resection of liver metastases remains an unsolved problem. The illustrated mouse model may be useful to investigate the reasons for such recurrences. It combines a liver resection model with intrahepatic tumor cell injection for the first time.

PTM Based Tumor Microenvironment Monitoring: A Method for Tracking Changes in ECM Rigidity Using Tumor Spheroids

2023

This protocol describes a technique for monitoring extracellular matrix rigidity changes by using particle-tracking microrheology (PTM). This is done by culturing 3D pancreatic tumor spheroids into ECM with embedded fluorescent probes for video particle-tracking and analysis.

2015

Stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SBRT) involves the precise delivery of high-dose radiation to cancer tumor targets. A novel SBRT platform offers a first-of-its-kind gimbaled radiation accelerator mounted within a pivoting O-ring gantry capable of dynamic image-guided tumor tracking. Here, we describe dynamic tumor tracking for lung targets.
