Tumor Recurrence Tracking

Tumor recurrence tracking is the ongoing process of monitoring a patient after treatment to detect whether cancer has returned, where it has reappeared, and how it is changing over time. In medicine, clinicians combine symptom assessment, physical examinations, medical imaging, laboratory tests, and, when indicated, tissue analysis to compare findings with prior results and distinguish recurrent disease from treatment-related changes. Systematic tracking supports earlier recognition, guides decisions about additional surgery, radiation, systemic therapy, or surveillance, and helps evaluate treatment outcomes. It also generates longitudinal data that can improve risk assessment, follow-up strategies, and personalized cancer care.

2015

Stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SBRT) involves the precise delivery of high-dose radiation to cancer tumor targets. A novel SBRT platform offers a first-of-its-kind gimbaled radiation accelerator mounted within a pivoting O-ring gantry capable of dynamic image-guided tumor tracking. Here, we describe dynamic tumor tracking for lung targets.

Begin with an anesthetized human patient diagnosed with recurrent glioblastoma, an invasive tumor characterized by tumor cell infiltration into the surrounding peritumoral region. The peritumoral region retains an intact blood-brain barrier (BBB), where tight junctions between endothelial cells restrict drug penetration.Make an incision in the scalp, create an opening in the skull, and insert a laser probe into the tumor core using MRI guidance.Deliver laser light through the probe.Tissue...

An In Vivo Technique to Track Bispecific Antibody-Induced T Cell Trafficking to Tumors

2025

This video demonstrates a method for tracking bispecific antibody-induced T cell trafficking to tumors in a mouse model. Luciferase-transduced effector T cells are injected into a mouse with a subcutaneous tumor cell xenograft. Bispecific antibodies are then introduced, binding to T cells and the tumor cells. The localization of the T cells is tracked using bioluminescent imaging, with the magnitude of the signal indicating the extent of T cell infiltration into the tumor.
