Brain Tissue Extracts

Brain tissue extracts are laboratory preparations made by disrupting brain tissue to release a complex mixture of proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, metabolites, and other cellular components. Researchers typically homogenize tissue under controlled conditions and use centrifugation or filtration to separate soluble molecules from cellular debris, while temperature and buffer composition help preserve biological activity. In neuroscience, these extracts provide biochemical material for studying neural signaling, protein expression, cellular damage, and disease-associated changes. They can support assays of enzyme activity, molecular interactions, and tissue composition, complementing studies that use intact cells, cultured neurons, or animal models.
