Juvenile Mouse Model

A juvenile mouse model is a laboratory mouse studied during the developmental period between infancy and adulthood, providing a system for investigating how the nervous system matures and responds to genetic, environmental, or experimental influences. During this stage, ongoing synaptic formation and pruning, changes in neural circuit connectivity, and evolving sensory and behavioral functions create measurable differences from adult animals. In neuroscience, juvenile mouse models support research on brain development, learning, neurodevelopmental disorders, and the effects of early-life experiences. By combining genetic manipulation with anatomical, physiological, and behavioral analyses, researchers can connect developmental mechanisms to later neural function and disease risk.

2025

This protocol presents a flow cytometry-based method to isolate viable alveolar type II epithelial cells (AECII) from neonatal, juvenile, or adult murine lungs (infected or non-infected). This approach enables downstream molecular and/or functional studies of AECII to identify their roles during lung inflammation and infection.

Mouse Models of Periventricular Leukomalacia

2010

We established mouse models of periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), the predominant brain injury in premature infants characterized by periventricular white matter lesions. Hypoxia/ischemia with/without systemic infection are the primary causes of PVL. Unilateral carotid ligation and hypoxia exposure with/without lipopolysaccharide injection creates PVL-like lesions in P6 mice.
