Kyphosis Test

The kyphosis test is a clinical assessment used to identify and characterize excessive outward curvature of the spine, particularly in the thoracic region. It typically combines visual inspection of spinal alignment with forward bending, palpation, range-of-motion assessment, and, when indicated, imaging to evaluate curvature, flexibility, and possible vertebral changes. In neuroscience and related clinical research, these findings help distinguish postural kyphosis from structural deformity and assess how spinal alignment may affect balance, gait, mobility, pain, and neurological function. Standardized testing also supports monitoring over time and evaluating responses to rehabilitation or other interventions.

We describe a protocol for the rapid and sensitive quantification of disease severity in mouse models of cerebellar ataxia. Measures include hind limb clasping, ledge test, gait and kyphosis. This protocol effectively discriminates between affected and non-affected individuals, and detects the progression of affected individuals over time.

Frailty Assessment in an Aging Mouse Model

Here, we present a protocol to use a curvelet transform-based, open-source MATLAB software tool for quantifying fibrillar collagen organization in the extracellular matrix of both normal and diseased tissues. This tool can be applied to images with collagen fibers or other types of line-like structures.

Microbial Control and Monitoring Strategies for Cleanroom Environments and Cellular Therapies

The protocol summarizes the best practices to minimize microbial bioburden in a cleanroom environment and includes strategies such as environmental monitoring, process monitoring, and product sterility testing. It is relevant for manufacturing and testing facilities that are required to meet current good tissue practice standards and current good manufacturing practice standards.

This method aims at locating vertical subsurface defects. Here, we couple a laser with a spatial light modulator and trigger its video input to heat a sample surface deterministically with two anti-phased modulated lines while acquiring highly resolved thermal images. The defect position is retrieved from evaluating thermal wave interference minima.
