Matlab Scripts

MATLAB scripts are text-based programs that organize commands into reproducible workflows for numerical analysis, modeling, and visualization. When executed, a script runs MATLAB statements sequentially, using variables, functions, and specialized toolboxes to transform input data into calculated results, plots, or simulations. In neuroscience, scripts can preprocess electrophysiological or imaging recordings, quantify spike trains and neural signals, model neuronal activity, and compare experimental conditions. By automating repeated analyses and preserving the computational steps, MATLAB scripts improve consistency, support transparent data interpretation, and help researchers test hypotheses across large datasets.

People tend to know what behavior is expected of them in specific, familiar settings. A script is a person’s knowledge about the sequence of events expected in a specific setting (Schank & Abelson, 1977). Essentially, scripts are a particular kind of schema, one containing default values for the features within an event. In the restaurant example, the script's features include the props (e.g., tables, menu, food, and money), the roles to be played (e.g., customer and waiter), the opening...

This protocol presents PIPEMAT-RS, a standardized MATLAB-based preprocessing pipeline for resting-state EEG data. It ensures artifact removal, improves signal quality, and enhances data reproducibility across studies. The pipeline automates key preprocessing steps, including filtering, independent component analysis (ICA), and artifact classification, facilitating consistent and reliable EEG analysis for neurophysiological research.

This protocol describes the methodology to genetically ablate the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) using a transgenic zebrafish model. Adapting the protocol to incorporate signaling pathway modulation using pharmacological compounds is extensively detailed. A MATLAB platform for quantifying RPE regeneration based on pigmentation was developed and is presented and discussed.
