Matrigel Induction

Matrigel induction is a cell culture approach that uses Matrigel, a reconstituted basement membrane matrix, to provide structural and biochemical cues that influence cell behavior in neuroscience research. Its extracellular matrix proteins support cell adhesion, spreading, polarity, and three-dimensional organization, helping neural stem or progenitor cells develop into organized neuronal structures under defined culture conditions. Researchers use this approach to promote neurite outgrowth, generate neural organoids, and model aspects of brain development and disease. By recreating key features of the cellular microenvironment, Matrigel induction can improve studies of neural differentiation, tissue organization, and potential regenerative strategies.

This video demonstrates how to maintain the growth of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in feeder cell-free conditions and how to continuously passage hESCs in feeder cell-free conditions. Confirmation of hESC pluripotency grown in feeder cell-free conditions by immunofluorescence microscopy is also demonstrated. Part 3 of 3.

Source: Yong P. Chen, PhD, Department of Physics & Astronomy, College of Science, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN This experiment will use inductive coils to demonstrate the concept of inductor and inductance. Magnetic induction will be demonstrated using a rod magnet inserted into or extracted away from the core of a coil to induce a transient electromotive force (emf) voltage in the coil, measured by a voltmeter. This experiment will also demonstrate the mutual inductance between...
