Video Analysis

Video analysis is the systematic extraction of measurable information from recorded images, providing an objective way to study behavior, movement, and biological events in neuroscience. Software analyzes sequential frames to detect and track features such as an animal’s position, speed, posture, or interactions, then converts these observations into quantitative time-series data. Researchers use these measurements to assess locomotion, social behavior, eye movements, and responses to neural manipulation, linking observable actions with underlying brain function. Automated video analysis also improves experimental consistency, supports high-throughput behavioral studies, and enables precise comparisons across animals, conditions, and treatments.

This method allows monitoring of cells in real time and quantitative measurements of different cell migration parameters such as speed, displacement, and velocity. Unlike the traditional methods, this real time approach is not based on endpoint quantitative migration measurements; instead it allows monitoring and calculating different parameters continuously.
