Parabolic Ramp

A parabolic ramp is a curved track whose height varies quadratically with horizontal position, creating a changing incline for objects moving under gravity. Because its profile can be described by an equation such as y = ax² + bx + c, the local slope changes systematically along the ramp, so the component of gravitational force parallel to the surface and the resulting acceleration vary with position. In physics experiments, parabolic ramps help investigate motion on curved paths, conservation of mechanical energy, variable acceleration, and the relationship between geometry and force. They also provide useful idealized models for analyzing guided motion in mechanical systems.
