Sigmund Freud

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis, an approach to understanding human behavior through unconscious motives, inner conflict, and early experience. He proposed that psychological life involves interacting forces, later described as the id, ego, and superego, and developed methods such as free association and dream analysis to examine unconscious thoughts. Freud’s theories shaped clinical psychology, personality theory, and interpretations of development, culture, and mental distress. Although many claims remain controversial and difficult to test scientifically, his emphasis on unconscious processes and the therapeutic relationship continues to influence psychodynamic research and contemporary psychotherapy.

An approach to analyze the migration of explanted cells (trunk neural crest cells) is described. This method is inexpensive, gentle, and capable of distinguishing chemotaxis from both chemokinesis and other influences on migratory polarity such as those derived from cell-cell interactions within the primary trunk neural crest cell culture.

The subretinal implantation of retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) is one of the most promising approaches for the treatment of degenerative retinal diseases. However, the performance of preclinical studies on large-eye animal models remains challenging. This report presents guidelines for the subretinal transplantation of RPE on a cell carrier into minipigs.
