Newborn Rabbit Survival

Newborn rabbit survival is the ability of kits to remain viable and develop normally during the vulnerable early postnatal period, making it an important measure in biology, animal care, and population management. Survival depends on coordinated processes including thermoregulation, nursing, energy balance, maternal care, and protection from environmental stress while immature physiological systems develop. Monitoring these factors helps researchers identify causes of early mortality, improve breeding and husbandry practices, and evaluate developmental responses under controlled conditions. In conservation and laboratory settings, understanding neonatal survival also supports healthier populations and more reliable biological studies.

2026

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Blood sampling is commonly performed in laboratory rabbits for research and clinical applications. The collection site is selected based on the required sample volume, sampling frequency, and study objectives. As a general...

Embryo Transfer Into Rabbit: A Procedure for Laparoscopy-Guided Transfer of Embryos Into Oviduct of Ovulating Recipient Female Rabbit Model

2025

This video describes the technique of transferring embryos into the oviduct of a recipient female rabbit via Laparoscopy. It allows embryo remodeling in rabbits during its migration through the oviduct, eventually helping in successful implantation. This technique can also be used for stored embryos with good efficiency.
