Trabecular Structure

Trabecular structure is a three-dimensional network of branching ridges or struts that organizes developing tissue and can increase its functional surface area. In developmental biology, the term often describes cardiac trabeculation, in which ventricular cardiomyocytes form internal projections through coordinated cell growth, differentiation, and signaling between the endocardium and myocardium, including Notch-mediated pathways. These structures help the embryonic heart generate force and support oxygen and nutrient exchange before the coronary circulation fully develops. Studying trabecular structure clarifies how heart chambers mature, how congenital cardiac defects arise, and how tissue architecture influences organ function.

2015

Trabecular meshwork (TM) migration into Schlemm’s canal space can be induced by acute pressure elevation by ophthalmodynamometer, and observed by spectral domain optical coherence tomography. The goal of this method is to quantify the morphometric response of the living outflow tract to acute pressure elevation in living tissues in situ.

Outer-Boundary Assisted Segmentation and Quantification of Trabecular Bones by an Imagej Plugin

2018

We present a workflow for segmenting and quantifying trabecular bones for 2D and 3D images based on the bone's outer boundary using an ImageJ plugin. This approach is more efficient and accurate than the current manual hand-contouring approach, and provides layer-by-layer quantifications, which are not available in current commercial software.

Source: Roberto Leon, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA It is rare nowadays that a whole year goes by without a major earthquake event wreaking havoc somewhere around the world. In some cases, like the 2005 Banda Ache earthquake in Indonesia, the damage involved large geographic areas and casualties in the six figures. In general, the number and intensity of earthquakes is not increasing, however, the vulnerability of the built environment is...

Structure Of Ferrocene

Source: Tamara M. Powers, Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University In 1951, Kealy and Pauson reported to Nature the synthesis of a new organometallic compound, ferrocene.1 In their original report, Pauson suggested a structure for ferrocene in which the iron is singly bonded (sigma bonds) to one carbon atom of each cyclopentadiene ligand (Figure 1, Structure I).1,2,3 This initial report led to wide-spread interest in the structure of ferrocene, and many leading scientists participated...
