Dnase One

DNase I is an endonuclease that cleaves DNA into smaller fragments, making it important for controlling extracellular genetic material in biology and medicine. The enzyme hydrolyzes phosphodiester bonds within single- and double-stranded DNA, with activity supported by divalent cations such as magnesium and calcium. In immunology and infection research, DNase I helps analyze neutrophil extracellular traps, cell lysis, and DNA-driven inflammation, while its ability to break down extracellular DNA can reduce mucus viscosity and alter biofilm-associated environments. These properties support studies of host defense, inflammatory disease, antimicrobial responses, and therapeutic strategies for conditions involving excess extracellular DNA.

This video demonstrates the isolation procedure of the gingival immune cell network from a mouse model. The enzymatic digestion releases the gingival tissue from the attached teeth and bone, which is further mechanically digested, releasing immune cells from the gingiva. The isolated cells are ready for immunological experiments.

Generating Cortical Interneuron Precursors From Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells

2025

This video presents a method for generating cortical interneuron precursors from mouse embryonic stem cells. The protocol entails culturing the stem cells in media containing specific small molecule inhibitors, which facilitate stem cell proliferation and aggregation into embryoid bodies (EBs). Subsequently, the EBs are dissociated with enzymes and plated on culture plate wells coated with adhesion proteins to promote their differentiation into cortical interneuron precursors.
