Auto-transplantation

Auto-transplantation is a medical procedure in which tissue, cells, or an organ is moved from one location to another within the same person, offering reconstruction or replacement without donor-recipient incompatibility. Surgeons remove viable tissue, preserve its blood supply when possible or reconnect vessels at the recipient site, and secure it to support revascularization and healing. Applications include transferring skin, bone, teeth, and other tissues to repair injury, restore function, or replace damaged structures. Because the graft is autologous, the risk of immune rejection is substantially reduced, making auto-transplantation an important approach in reconstructive surgery, dentistry, and regenerative medicine.
