Cd-1 Mice

Cd-1 mice are an outbred laboratory mouse stock used in biomedical research when genetic diversity and broad population-level variation are important. Unlike inbred strains, Cd-1 mice retain greater heterogeneity because breeding involves genetically diverse animals, producing variable traits and responses among individuals. This characteristic supports studies in medicine, including toxicology, pharmacology, reproductive biology, developmental research, and general disease investigations. Cd-1 mice can improve the relevance of findings to genetically variable populations, although their phenotypic variation may require larger groups and careful experimental design to distinguish treatment effects from natural differences.

We provide a reproducible method to induce type 1 diabetes (T1D) in mice within two weeks by the adoptive transfer of islet antigen-specific, primary CD4+ T cells.

Transplantation of Tail Skin to Study Allogeneic CD4 T Cell Responses in Mice

Tail-skin transplantation is a powerful model for studying T cell-dependent rejection and tolerance induction during allogeneic immune responses in mice. The advantages of this protocol are minor invasive surgery, and ease of monitoring with no need to sacrifice the recipient mouse.

Effect of an Immunomodulatory Pharmacological Agent on the Interaction Between Dendritic Cells and CD4+ T Cells

2025

This video demonstrates a method of converting dendritic cells (DCs) to tolerogenic DCs (TolDCs) using an immunomodulatory pharmacological agent. This conversion is confirmed by evaluating the TolDC function through their immunosuppressive effect on CD4+ T cells.

The mechanisms that govern the interstitial motility of CD4 effector T cells at sites of inflammation are relatively unknown. We present a non-invasive approach to visualize and manipulate in vitro-primed CD4 T cells in the inflamed ear dermis, allowing for study of the dynamic behavior of these cells in situ.

In Vitro Differentiation of Human CD4+FOXP3+ Induced Regulatory T Cells (iTregs) from Naïve CD4+ T Cells Using a TGF-β-containing Protocol

This protocol describes the reproducible generation and phenotyping of human induced regulatory T cells (iTregs) from naïve CD4+ T cells in vitro. Different protocols for FOXP3 induction allow for the study of specific iTreg phenotypes obtained with respective protocols.
