Decitabine Venetoclax

Decitabine–venetoclax is a combination anticancer therapy that targets abnormal blood-forming cells, particularly in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients who may not tolerate intensive chemotherapy. Decitabine is a hypomethylating agent that inhibits DNA methyltransferase, promoting changes in gene expression, while venetoclax blocks the anti-apoptotic protein BCL-2 and helps trigger programmed cell death. Used together, these medicines can reduce leukemic cell burden and improve remission rates in selected patients, including older adults or those with newly diagnosed AML. Treatment requires careful monitoring for prolonged myelosuppression, infections, tumor lysis, and other complications, making dosing and supportive care central to clinical management.
