Eye Fixation Technique

The eye fixation technique is a clinical method for directing and stabilizing a patient’s gaze on a defined target during examination or treatment. By maintaining visual attention on a stationary or specified point, it reduces involuntary eye movements and helps clinicians align instruments, standardize measurements, and assess ocular function. The technique supports procedures such as visual acuity testing, retinal examination, ophthalmic imaging, perimetry, and certain eye surgeries, where accurate positioning and reproducible results are important. Consistent fixation can also help identify unstable gaze or fixation loss, improving interpretation of diagnostic findings.

2025

This video demonstrates a technique to induce chronic experimental autoimmune dry eye disease in rats. Upon injecting an antigen-adjuvant emulsion containing autoantigens and foreign antigens into a rat at predefined intervals, chronic eye inflammation is induced in the immunized rat by injecting the same antigens into the ocular surface tissues.
