Femoral Offset Reconstruction

Femoral offset reconstruction is a surgical strategy that restores the lateral relationship between the femoral shaft and the hip’s center of rotation, helping preserve normal hip biomechanics. During hip arthroplasty, surgeons assess radiographs and select implant geometry, femoral neck length, and offset options to reproduce the patient’s anatomy while balancing leg length and soft-tissue tension. Accurate reconstruction supports the abductor muscles, improves joint stability and gait, and may reduce impingement or excessive implant loading. Understanding these principles helps clinicians plan individualized hip replacement and evaluate postoperative alignment, function, and potential complications.

2023

Source: James W Bonz, MD, Emergency Medicine, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, USA Central venous access is necessary in a multitude of clinical situations, including vascular access, vasopressor and caustic medication delivery, central venous pressure monitoring, volume resuscitation, total parental nutrition, hemodialysis, and frequent phlebotomy. There are three veins in the body that are accessed for central venous cannulation: the internal jugular, the subclavian, and the...

This protocol describes a procedure for serial sampling of femoral bone marrow (BM) without requiring the sacrifice of mice. This procedure facilitates longitudinal studies of the BM composition of mice over time and provides serial access to cells within the BM for ex vivo and transplantation studies.
