Mspt Disability Assessment

MSPT disability assessment refers to the Multiple Sclerosis Performance Test, a standardized, technology-supported evaluation of functional disability in people with multiple sclerosis. It combines timed walking, manual dexterity, cognitive processing speed, and visual contrast sensitivity tasks, typically administered through a tablet-based platform, to quantify impairment across neurologic domains. Standardized task instructions and repeatable performance measures help clinicians and researchers track disease-related changes over time and complement conventional neurologic examinations. The assessment can support disability characterization, monitoring of progression or treatment response, and clinical research by producing objective outcomes that are practical for longitudinal and multisite studies.

Precise measurement of neurological and neuropsychological impairment and disability in multiple sclerosis is challenging. We report methodologic details on a new test, the Multiple Sclerosis Performance Test (MSPT). This new approach to the objective of quantification of MS related disability provides a computer-based platform for precise, valid measurement of MS severity.

Objective and easy measurement of sensory processing is extremely difficult in nonverbal or vulnerable pediatric patients. We developed a new methodology to quantitatively assess infants and children's cortical processing of light touch, speech sounds, and the multisensory processing of the 2 stimuli, without requiring active subject participation or causing discomfort in vulnerable patients.
