Myocardial Injury Model

A myocardial injury model is an experimental system that reproduces damage to cardiac muscle, enabling researchers to study disease mechanisms and evaluate potential treatments. These models induce injury through conditions such as reduced blood flow, ischemia followed by reperfusion, or controlled cellular stress, which can trigger inflammation, cell death, and impaired contractility. Researchers assess outcomes using cardiac biomarkers, tissue morphology, electrophysiology, and measures of heart function. Myocardial injury models support investigation of myocardial infarction, drug-induced cardiotoxicity, and tissue repair, while helping bridge findings from basic cardiovascular research to clinical medicine.

Improved Rodent Model of Myocardial Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury

2022

Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion model of rat heart is improved by using a self-made retractor, polyvinyl chloride tube, and a unique knotting method. Electrocardiogram, triphenyltetrazolium chloride and histological staining, and percent survival analysis results showed that the improved model group has higher success and survival rates than the already existing model group.
