Organoid Isolation

Organoid isolation is the laboratory process of separating three-dimensional, tissue-like cell cultures from their surrounding matrix or culture system while preserving their structure and viability. The procedure typically involves removing culture medium and extracellular matrix, followed by gentle mechanical handling, washing, filtration, or centrifugation; enzymatic dissociation may be used when single cells or smaller fragments are required. In medicine, isolated organoids support expansion, imaging, molecular analysis, drug screening, and disease modeling. Careful control of handling conditions helps maintain cellular organization and patient- or tissue-specific characteristics, improving the reliability of studies in regenerative medicine and precision therapeutics.
