Uterine Procurement

Uterine procurement is the surgical retrieval of a uterus from a living or deceased donor for transplantation, a specialized procedure that can provide a reproductive option for people with uterine-factor infertility. During procurement, surgeons mobilize the uterus and carefully dissect its supporting tissues while preserving the uterine arteries, veins, and associated vascular connections needed to restore blood flow. The organ is then flushed with preservation solution, cooled, and transported for implantation within an appropriate time window. In medicine, standardized procurement protocols help limit ischemic injury, improve graft function, and support research into fertility restoration, surgical innovation, and transplant outcomes.

The infundibulum is characterized by its funnel shape and features extensions called fimbriae which reach towards the peritoneal cavity. These fimbriae play a critical role during ovulation as they extend...

Here, we introduce a novel approach-Laparoscopic Extracorporeal Knot-Tying for Uterine Vessel Occlusion during Hysterectomy with Cervical Cerclage in Large Uteri. A laparoscopic extracorporeal knot-pusher is used to perform cervical cerclage, achieving complete occlusion of uterine arteries. Thereafter, the corpus uteri are excised to enhance visibility and facilitate the operative field.
