This article details a method for administering resiniferatoxin (RTX) to study its effects on TRPV1 receptors in sensory neurons. The procedure involves precise injection techniques in anesthetized mice to evaluate pain response modulation.
This method enables precise pharmacological interrogation of TRPV1-mediated pain pathways in the central nervous system, supporting target validation in analgesic discovery. By inducing sustained receptor desensitization through controlled agonist exposure, it provides a mechanistic model for evaluating TRPV1 modulator efficacy. The approach aids in de-risking TRPV1 as a therapeutic target by linking molecular engagement to functional neuronal outcomes in vivo.
