This study investigates the effects of repetitive hypoxic preconditioning (RHP) on neuronal resilience during ischemic stroke. Mice exposed to fluctuating low oxygen levels show improved adaptation and reduced brain damage when subjected to subsequent ischemic conditions.
Repetitive hypoxic preconditioning (RHP) models neuronal adaptation to low-oxygen stress, offering a mechanistic system to evaluate neuroprotective strategies before ischemic injury. This approach supports target validation by revealing pathways that enhance neuronal resilience and blood-brain barrier stability under hypoxia. It enables preclinical de-risking of interventions aimed at mitigating stroke-related neurodegeneration.
RHP fits within the discovery continuum from target identification through lead optimization to preclinical efficacy testing, particularly for stroke and neurodegenerative indications.
