Traditionele, tweedimensionale celcultuur technieken vaak resulteren in veranderde eigenschappen met betrekking tot de differentiatie markers, cytokines en groeifactoren. Drie-dimensionale celkweek in het draaiende celkweek systeem (RCC's) herstelt expressie van vele van deze factoren zoals hier afgebeeld met een extravillous trophoblast cellijn.
