Oral Narrative Skills

Oral narrative skills are the abilities used to understand and verbally recount connected events, experiences, or stories, making them central to communication and social behavior. They rely on selecting relevant information, organizing events in a meaningful sequence, and using vocabulary, grammar, temporal and causal links, and perspective-taking so a listener can follow the message. In behavioral research and practice, analyzing narrative structure, coherence, and conversational performance can help characterize language development, social communication, and adaptive functioning, while targeted instruction and feedback can strengthen communication, classroom participation, and everyday interactions across developmental and clinical contexts.

Two-Dimensional Graphs Some chemistry experiments take the form of directly changing one property of the system that you are studying otherwise known as the independent variable, like temperature, and measuring the effects on another property, otherwise known as the dependent variable, like volume. Once the data have been collected, the interaction between the two parameters must be quantified — or converted into a form that can be evaluated — and compared to other relationships.

We describe a novel virtual-reality based setup which exploits voluntary control of one hand to improve motor-skill performance in the other (non-trained) hand. This is achieved by providing real-time movement-based sensory feedback as if the non-trained hand is moving. This new approach may be used to enhance rehabilitation of patients with unilateral hemiparesis.

Source: Richard Glickman-Simon, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health and Community Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine, MA This video provides an overview of sinus, nose, and throat examinations. The demonstration begins with a brief overview of the anatomy of the region. The upper third of the nose is bony, and the bottom two-thirds are cartilaginous. Air entering the nares passes through the nasal vestibules and into the narrow passageway between the nasal septum...

Detailed microsurgical techniques are demonstrated to establish a longer-term jugular vein cannulation rat model for sequential blood collection in the same animal. Physiological and hematological parameters have been monitored during the rat's recovery phase. This model has been applied to study pharmacokinetics of orally administered polyphenol without inducing animal stress.
