Pre/post Testing

Pre/post testing is a research method that compares behavior measured before and after an intervention, condition, or period of change to assess whether outcomes have shifted. Researchers establish a baseline, apply a specified manipulation or program, and repeat the same behavioral measures under comparable conditions; differences between time points can indicate change, although maturation, practice, or other external influences may also contribute. In behavioral science, pre/post testing supports evaluation of training programs, clinical interventions, educational strategies, and experimental treatments. Careful measurement, consistent procedures, and appropriate comparison groups strengthen conclusions about whether the intervention produced the observed behavioral effects.

2025

Patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction who remain symptomatic despite optimal medical therapy may undergo a septal myectomy (Morrow procedure). This procedure involves excising a portion of the hypertrophied septum below the aortic valve using a heart-lung machine to improve blood flow through the LVOT. Effective preoperative and postoperative nursing management ensures successful patient outcomes, minimizes complications, and...

The protocol presents the overall in-lab procedures required in pre-implantation genetic testing for aneuploidy on a semiconductor-based next-generation sequencing platform. Here we present the detailed steps of whole genome amplification, DNA fragment selection, library construction, template preparation, and sequencing working flow with representative results.

pre-mRNA Processing

In eukaryotic cells, transcripts made by RNA polymerase are modified and processed before exiting the nucleus. Unprocessed RNA is called precursor mRNA or pre-mRNA to distinguish it from mature mRNA. Once about 20-40 ribonucleotides have been joined together by RNA polymerase, a group of enzymes adds a “cap” to the 5’ end of the growing transcript. In this process, a 5’ phosphate is replaced by modified guanosine that has a methyl group attached to it (7-Methyl guanosine). This 5’ cap helps the...
