Pressure Stimulation Task

Pressure Stimulation Task is a behavioral research paradigm used to assess how organisms detect and respond to controlled mechanical force. In the task, a calibrated pressure stimulus is applied to a defined body region while researchers vary its intensity, duration, or timing and record outcomes such as withdrawal, avoidance, or other observable responses. These measurements help characterize mechanosensory processing, stimulus sensitivity, and changes in behavioral reactivity. In behavior research, pressure stimulation tasks support investigations of sensory function, pain-related responses, stress effects, and the behavioral consequences of neurological or pharmacological interventions, providing a standardized way to compare responses across experimental conditions.

Piaget's Conservation Task and the Influence of Task Demands

2023

Source: Laboratories of Judith Danovitch and Nicholaus Noles—University of Louisville Jean Piaget was a pioneer in the field of developmental psychology, and his theory of cognitive development is one of the most well-known psychological theories. At the heart of Piaget’s theory is the idea that children’s ways of thinking change over the course of childhood. Piaget provided evidence for these changes by comparing how children of different ages responded to questions and problems that he...

The laser heated diamond anvil cell combined with synchrotron micro-diffraction techniques allows researchers to explore the nature and properties of new phases of matter at extreme pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. Heterogeneous samples can be characterized in situ under high pressure by 2D mapping and combined powder, single-crystal and multigrain diffraction approaches.
