Sentence Structure Analysis

Sentence structure analysis is the systematic examination of how words, phrases, and clauses combine to form meaningful sentences. It identifies grammatical constituents, relationships among sentence elements, clause boundaries, and word-order patterns to describe how language is organized and interpreted. In behavioral research, this analysis can characterize language production and comprehension by revealing patterns in communication, including complexity, sequencing, and responses to different sentence forms. These observations support the study of verbal behavior, developmental change, cognitive processing, and communication difficulties, while providing measurable features for comparing individuals, tasks, or experimental conditions.

First Sentences During Toddlerhood

2026

Toddlerhood is a major stage in language development as children progress from single words to combinations that express more complex ideas.Words and GesturesBetween 12 and 18 months, toddlers may combine one spoken word with a gesture to communicate the meaning of a two-word phrase. For example, pointing to a shoe while saying “Mommy” may mean “Mommy’s shoe.” This shows the multimodal nature of early communication, in which speech, gestures, and body language work together.Telegraphic...

We describe a correlative microscopy method that combines high-speed 3D live-cell fluorescent light microscopy and high-resolution cryo-electron tomography. We demonstrate the capability of the correlative method by imaging dynamic, small HIV-1 particles interacting with host HeLa cells.

Co-analysis of Brain Structure and Function using fMRI and Diffusion-weighted Imaging

We describe a novel approach for simultaneous analysis of brain function and structure using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We assess brain structure with high-resolution diffusion-weighted imaging and white-matter fiber tractography. Unlike standard structural MRI, these techniques allow us to directly relate anatomical connectivity to functional properties of brain networks.

A Modular Workflow for Quantitative, Structural and Functional Analysis of Leptospira Biofilms

2025

This protocol delivers a modular, BSL-2 workflow combining crystal-violet biomass assays, time-lapse phase-contrast kinetics, confocal 3-D/matrix mapping, SEM ultrastructure, and an in vivo hamster infection module to cultivate, quantify, characterize and investigate Leptospira biofilm functional role, enabling standardized evaluation of mutants and anti-biofilm interventions across laboratories.

An Experimental Paradigm for Measuring the Effects of Ageing on Sentence Processing

2019

Here, we present a protocol to examine the age-related decline in sentence processing using a maze task that allowed us to localize the processing difficulty at each word of the sentences during reading.
