Fabrication Process

Fabrication processes are methods for transforming raw materials into functional structures, devices, or biological constructs with controlled form and composition. In bioengineering, these processes may pattern, deposit, mold, assemble, or crosslink materials, often using defined dimensions and processing conditions to achieve reproducible architectures. The resulting structures can include microfluidic devices, biosensors, scaffolds for tissue engineering, and engineered cell environments. Careful control of material properties, geometry, surface features, and fabrication parameters influences mechanical performance, transport, cell behavior, and device function, making fabrication a foundation for biomedical research, diagnostics, regenerative medicine, and therapeutic development.

2017

An experimental method to measure geometrical parameters and the apparent advancing contact angles describing capillary wicking in unidirectional synthetic and natural fabrics is proposed. These parameters are mandatory for the determination of the capillary pressures that must be taken into account for liquid composite molding (LCM) applications.
