Fluorescent Marker Verification

Fluorescent Marker Verification is the process of confirming that a fluorescent label produces a specific, interpretable signal in the biological sample being studied. It relies on exciting the fluorophore with suitable light, detecting its emitted fluorescence, and comparing the observed pattern with appropriate positive, negative, or unlabeled controls to distinguish true labeling from background signal. In biology, this verification supports accurate identification of cells, proteins, tissues, or subcellular structures in fluorescence microscopy and related assays. Careful validation improves confidence in localization and expression results, helping researchers interpret experiments, compare samples, and avoid conclusions based on nonspecific or technically generated fluorescence.

Self-Evaluation: Self-Enhancement and Self-Verification

2020

Social psychologists have documented that feeling good about ourselves and maintaining positive self-esteem is a powerful motivator of human behavior (Tavris & Aronson, 2008). In the United States, members of the predominant culture typically think very highly of themselves and view themselves as good people who are above average on many desirable traits (Ehrlinger, Gilovich, & Ross, 2005). Often, our behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are affected when we experience a threat to our...

Strategies of Self-Presentation II: Self-Verification

2025

Self-verification is a fundamental psychological drive wherein individuals seek affirmation of their self-concept from others, striving for consistency between their internal self-view and external perceptions. This drive operates even when the self-concept is negative, influencing interpersonal behavior and feedback preferences in complex and often counterintuitive ways. Unlike the self-enhancement motive, which seeks positive evaluations, self-verification prioritizes coherence and...

The ability to produce transgenes for Caenorhabditis elegans using genomic DNA carried by fosmids is particularly attractive as all of the native regulatory elements are retained. Described is a simple and robust procedure for the production of transgenes via recombineering with the galK selectable marker.
