Fluorimeter Detection

Fluorimeter detection is a method for measuring fluorescence to identify or quantify fluorescent molecules in biological samples, often with high sensitivity. A fluorimeter illuminates a sample at an excitation wavelength and measures emitted light at a longer wavelength, using optical filters or a monochromator to separate the signal from the excitation beam; emission intensity can then be related to fluorophore concentration under controlled conditions. In biology, this approach supports assays of nucleic acids, proteins, enzyme activity, and cellular processes, providing quantitative data for research, diagnostics, and monitoring molecular interactions.

The Protease Fluorescent Detection Kit is designed for the measurement of protease activity using fluorometry. It is also suitable for detection of trace amounts of protease contamination. The method is based on the proteolytic hydroysis of a proprietary formulation of a FITC-labeled casein substrate.

Detection of Bacteria Using Fluorogenic DNAzymes

We have recently reported a novel approach for generating fluorogenic DNAzyme probes that can be applied to set up a simple, "mix-and-read" fluorescent assay for bacterial detection. These special DNA probes catalyze the cleavage of a chromophore-modified DNA-RNA chimeric substrate in the presence of crude extracellular mixture (CEM) produced by a specific bacterium, thereby translating bacterial detection into fluorescence signal generation. In this report we will describe key experimental...
