Microarray Punch Technique

Microarray punch technique is a tissue-sampling method used to remove small, cylindrical cores from selected donor specimens and arrange them in a recipient block for parallel analysis. A hollow punch extracts precisely positioned tissue cores, which are transferred into a grid within the recipient block, embedded, sectioned, and mounted on slides; each position retains a map linking the core to its source. In biology and pathology research, this approach conserves valuable samples while enabling immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and other assays across many specimens under consistent experimental conditions. It supports efficient comparison of biomarkers, disease features, and treatment responses.

Expression Profiling with Microarrays

2023

Microarrays are important tools for profiling gene expression, and are based on complementary binding between probes that are attached to glass chips and nucleic acids derived from samples. Using these arrays, scientists can simultaneously evaluate the expression of thousands of genes. In addition, the expression profiles of different cells or tissue types can be compared, allowing researchers to deduce how the expression of different genes change during biological processes, and thus gain...
