Mouse Model Injection

Mouse model injection is a laboratory technique for delivering substances into living mice to study biological processes, disease mechanisms, or therapeutic responses. Researchers select an injection route, such as intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, or intramuscular administration, because each route controls how a compound enters tissues, reaches the circulation, and produces an effect; accurate dosing and sterile technique are essential for reliable results and animal welfare. This method supports disease modeling, pharmacology, toxicology, immunology, and gene or cell delivery studies. Carefully standardized injections improve experimental reproducibility and help researchers evaluate treatment efficacy, biological mechanisms, and safety before advancing to further research.

Establishing a Focal Demyelination Mouse Model via a Two-Point Injection of Lysophosphatidylcholine

2025

This video demonstrates the generation of a focal demyelination mouse model using a two-point Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) injection. The skull of an anesthetized mouse is exposed. The injection coordinates are determined, and a hole is drilled to enable LPC injections at targeted sites. LPC induces focal demyelination of neurons via inflammation, while a two-point injection ensures its sustainability.

Intracarotid Cancer Cell Injection to Produce Mouse Models of Brain Metastasis

Brain metastasis has become an urgent unmet medical need as its incidence has increased while therapeutic options have remained palliative. Creating experimental animal models of brain metastasis via intracarotid arterial injection of cancer cells facilitates mechanistic studies of the disease biology and evaluation of novel intervention regimens.

Source: Wilson, K.L., et al. Injection of Hydrogel Biomaterial Scaffolds to The Brain After Stroke. J. Vis. Exp. (2020)This video demonstrates the stereotaxic injection of a hydrogel into the stroke core of a post-stroke mouse, highlighting its role in scaffold formation that mimics the extracellular matrix, promotes cellular infiltration, and supports angiogenesis, underscoring its neurotherapeutic potential in stroke recovery.

Brain Metastasis Mouse Model: A Method to Generate Brain Metastasis Mouse Model by Intracarotid Cancer Cell Injection

2025

This video demonstrates the establishment of a brain metastasis mouse model by intracarotid injection of fluorescently labeled cancer cells. The mouse model can be used to study the effects of novel therapeutics and the underlying physiological mechanisms.

Tumor Implantation and Injection of a Tumor Vaccine in a Mouse Model

2025

This video demonstrates a cell-based tumor vaccination assay. A mouse, intradermally injected with B16-F10 melanoma cells for tumor formation, is vaccinated with B16-F10 cells secreting Flt3L cytokine near the developed tumor. The secreted Flt3L from the vaccine promotes the maturation and proliferation of dendritic cells that then present tumor antigens to T cells in lymph nodes, triggering a targeted anti-tumor immune response.
